MATERIALS

We are continuously reevaluating all aspects of our company to determine how we can become more ecologically and socially responsible in the most significant ways.

We are committed to assessing how our company can continue to move towards more sustainable materials, production and practices. Some additional info of the practices we have implemented so far:

Recycled swim fabric

We’re excited to introduce recycled REPREVE swim fabric. This eco-friendly fabric, made from recycled plastic bottles, has been regenerated into the softest nylon. Once products are no longer useful to consumers, they can be recycled back into regenerated nylon fabric and used once again – an exciting new system we look forward to being a part of!

Natural fibers

This year we’re offering a selection of green textiles: TENCEL made from sustainably harvested trees, Cotton Cupro: A mock silk crepe, made from regenerated cellulose fibers from recycled cotton linter the fluffy fibre around the plant's seeds) It is a by-product of the cotton industry that usually gets discarded during cotton production. Organic cotton and OEKO-TEX certified organic linen, grown without the use of pesticides or synthetic fertilizers which require less water waste. All surf shorts are made from recycled polyester!

Recycled packaging

Acacia currently uses recycled paper packaging for all online orders to reduce waste. All packaging used is compostable.

Compostable Poly-bags

All of our products are packaged in compostable poly-bags that will bio-degrade in your home compost!

MANUFACTURING

Ethical production

We have been working with the same factories since day one (12+ years!). Two factories that we can proudly say promote high standards: ethical production, gender equality, and fair pay. Bali is a second home to us, which is why we have manufactured there for over 12 years. We have a deep, genuine love for its people and culture.

Made to Order

This business model is a far more ethical and sustainable approach to Fashion. There is no overproduction, which reduces the risk of excess unwanted stock going to our landfills. This model also allows each retailer to offer a specific + unique offering each collection, encouraging quicker sell through + minimizing leftover stock between seasons.

Hand dyed and screen printing

All of our clothing fabric is screen printed and hand dyed in Bali, allowing us to print /dye only exactly what is needed to fulfill orders. No fabric is wasted or left over.

Digitally printed swim fabric

Our swim fabric is digitally printed, allowing for small production runs to reduce fabric waste. Digital printing also requires less water, therefore creating less water waste.

LET'S GIVE BACK

Your purchase makes a difference!

Each season we will donate a percentage of every purchase made, to a non-profit of your choice. Current programs:

1% for the planet

A global non-profit who's model drives critical philanthropic support to address the most urgent environmental issues of our time. Their network exemplifies the power of collective action, bringing together individuals, businesses and nonprofit organizations around the world to support people and the planet. When we all work together, 1% adds up! We recognize that we cannot solve the climate crisis without recognizing the disproportionate impact of environmental issues. 1% exists to ensure that our planet and future generations thrive. However, achieving this goal requires a multi-faceted approach that addresses both environmental and social justice.

Hawai'i Food Bank

Hawaii Foodbank is a non-profit agency that provides food assistance to the state of Hawaii. Serving O‘ahu and Kaua‘i directly while partnering with THE FOOD BASKET to serve Hawai'i county and MAUI FOOD BANK to serve Maui County. Together, they work to ensure that no one in Hawai'i goes hungry.

Bali Children's Project

Bali Children's Project is a non-profit agency dedicated to helping children in Bali access education and escape poverty. Their mission statement :
Escaping poverty through education, calls attention to the idea that education can afford each child the chance to earn their way out of poverty – changing their lives forever."
